Hum hum hum

Lets see now what have I been up to lately... at the moment I am sitting at working munching on a fantastic chicken/pickles/cheese/pepper/mayo leb bread "sandwich".. which does me very nicely, although I usually have 2. So I think I will have another in a minute. Otherwise it so so dead at work at the moment, it's really quite hard to find something to fill in the time. The boss is off sick at the moment, funny thing is he called me yesterday morning to tell me he was sick, while I was on the way to work. Hmm. And I thought it was my responsibility to call him when I'm sick? Should I ask for a doctor's certificate or what? I mean, it's been 2 days now. I wonder how many sick days he has left.. pwahaha.

The weekend was pretty good I must say. Kicked it off with yumcha at cabra on Saturday morning, unfortunately Rex was too lazy to come over... but that's okay, it would've been a bit of a struggle getting her there anyways! Shame. Would've been nice. There were about 15 of us, pretty much all from uni. I think the purpose of the event was of course to meet *cough* show off *cough* Truc's new boyfriend! We all had a bit of a discussion (ok I mean just the guys..) about him and yeah. That was pretty funny. I took along a picture of some strange sweet thing to buy while I was there for Cynthia, but my friends confiscated it because it was apparently embarassing. I thought it was being resourceful! Oh well. Found the required article, which is apparently green coloured sticky rice, with sesame seeds or similar on top. Found it not a problem, $2 later and we were again wandering around cabra. I gave the packet to Rex later on, and a quick read of the incredients revealed it's not rice but mung beans. Or something. Oh well. I didn't actually end up trying any :( Dammit. Next time!

Of course, when I did finally get to Cynthia's, we showed the goods to her mum and yes... predictably she complained about the colour of the rice/mung been thing. Hah! I knew it would happen.

Ah well. Now our next stop would be to check out the Power House Museum... which unfortunately wasn't looking too likely as her parents weren't home and I wanted to go! But we did actually make it there this weekend, and it was really good. I think we need to go again however, because we only barely saw half of the things on display. Maybe. Well we only had 2 hours!

The highlight was watching Rex try to shear an electronic sheep and fail miserably... heh... apparently she wasn't close enough to actually get any wool off the poor metallic thing. Another highlight would be the Amiga 2000 computer running some quite dated satellite imagery game in the Space Shuttle display. It's been a while since they have updated that display I think!

5pm came and the security guard rushed everyone out of the building, which was a bit annoying since we had barely been there for 2 hours! Oh well.

I then had to find a present for Robert's birthday... which happened to be on Saturday night. Hah. What a rush... found a nice book in the end so that was good. Checked out Japan City as we always do, and marvelled at the beauty but then sighed at the prices. Oh well. Maybe I will buy something from there one day...

Thankfully we parked close for the PowerHouse... just on Wattle St. So it was a short walk and unlimited free parking. Score! Problem was, next stop was Tony Roma's ribs restaurant place thing, and it was pretty far then. Oh well. Met up with all of Robert's friends at the restaurant, then Robert came along later on. It was a surprise party and I think it actually worked out OK, although he did spot some of his friends wandering around the city earlier!!

The ribs were... well... huge! We shared a few full stacks of the damn things (which to me all tasted the same sweet sauce) but it was still quite nice. After discovering the wall was made from plastic formed into the shape of sandstone bricks and the fireplace was actually gas powered, we called it enough and wandered off to K. Now I went with Helen and Jean in Jean's little Mazda 2 in search of parking... bah. That would take years on a Saturday night in the CBD. And I think it did.... we ran away to K while Jean and Helen were still parking, but since Rex had to work the next day at 10am (argh that should be illegal!!! too early!! haha) we left them all to it. Of course, we had to stay for the traditional Better Man and ... hmm that's about it really. No time for Viva. heh.

Took about 20 or so minutes to get back to the car at Wattle St... and 2 minutes to drive back over the CBD to where we were for K. Ah well, at least it was easy to find parking there.

Somewhat tired at this point, so I had a minty and soldered on to Matto. Ah sleep time. Unfortunately there was no time for anything else, no Red Dwarf screenings or TinTin or Danger Mouse... ah well. Next time!

In the morning there was some fresh congee and then a short trip to Bondi... to drop Rex off at work. Ahh well. Didn't do anything totally fantastic on Sunday but at least Saturday was really good!

Popped in at Auburn to visit my bro at work, it was quiet because of Father's Day and the rain but then it picked up a bit later on. I think I really want that amp now... a Marantz SR7500. Hmm they say Marantz service kinda sucks so they don't want to sell them anymore... But I hope I can order it in because the price was really sweet.

Then I powered off after watching Andrew eat his lunch early (11:30! Gosh!) and visited Gords, who had his 21st Birthday party the previous day (I think...). His cake was pretty awesome I must say, it was in the form of a computer with a keyboard and mouse and Overclockers on the screen, flanked by tons of licorice. mmmm yum! hehe. Also managed to grab a bite to eat. His parents are always so polite I don't dare knock back an offer for some nice food hehe.

Eventually I got home at around 4... hmm not much of a Father's Day but my dad spent the day cleaning up the shed... and cutting up old bits of wood and things. Strange. Pity I didn't really achieve any progress in any of my projects... but oh well.

Yesterday my bro sms'ed me saying there was a present at his place for me, so for me to come and pick it up. I wondered what it was... turns out it's a couple of phones from Domain which have been on the shelves for yonks... so long, that when they came to do a stock take, they figured they might as well get rid of it... Basically there's a 2 line handset and a single line handset with a headset thingy.... Hmm chucked that in the kitchen last night, works quite well I must say! Very comfortable. I tried it out at work but Lola made me laugh so much it was hard to talk to the customer! She reckoned it looked cute. Heh. Maybe so...

Otherwise I have been playing with this phone system from my dad's work, although I have absolutely no instructions, so it is impossible to actually hook up. Stupid NEC I swear... every country they release their phones in, they rename the product. So half the time I'm spending I'm trying to work out the damn name of the product in America so I can have a better chance of finding manuals. But I still cannot. BAH! :@

And that brings me to today. Not a lot to report so far, since it is only lunch time, but yes. I know I have skipped a few weekends in the blog... but ah well. What can ya do?
