Tax, Birthdays, TV and Pianoputers

Woohoo! Got my tax back.. heh OK so I did my return a bit late but a week isn't too shabby from the government to process it all I reckon. So yes I'm rich now LOL.

In other news, I can't wait for Telstra to get off their damn bums and install ADSL in my exchange already! Bah. Sif farmers don't want ADSL! Sif there aren't any farmers around here, anyways.

Hmm spent not too much time with CM last weekend unfortunately but we did manage to celebrate her mum's birthday (which apparently changes date each year, not sure how that works but it's a good excuse not to accurately remember when it is...). Picked some flowers from the 'garden' (read: bush) before the rain came and managed to find some nice grevilleas and tea tree and a bit of wattle.

Went out to the Stump with Black for dinner, although everyone else had steak I had the chicken... hehe just to be different. It was nice but oh so full of fatty goodness! Also managed to share the sticky date pudding, so that was also good.

Didn't have much time on Sunday unfortunately for anything much, mainly due to us sleeping in (teheh) but it is so nice to sleep in on Sundays... Particularly when Rex doesn't have to work. Pity she did have to work, but at least she was starting at a sane time like 1PM. Managed to take a tour of Maroubra beach by car, which looked so damn tempting.. *sighs* pity we couldn't pay any closer attention to it.

Lately I've been playing random songs on the piano while reading the music from my notebook stuck in the place where the sheetmusic usually goes. I sort of opened it up flat and then wedged it between the music holder and the lid... It's quite hard to get used to I must say, since I'm not used to playing along with something else, but it's fun as a challenge. It's also a bit annoying how the speaker in the notebook is so crappy and dodgy, so everything sounds terrible. But I guess I have been spoilt and there isn't really much to do... except hook it up to the amp in that room.. hey now there's an idea. They aren't the best speakers in the world, but they were Dad's and I have since retro-fitted new mid-woofer drivers into them, so they at least sound decent for the effort I have spent on them.

Hmm yes work has been OK so far this week, put in 2 new servers today at Kelly & Shepherd civil construction/mining place... but I kinda took the "visitor" badge home.. oops! I'm so not used to wearing one... ah well.

Apart from that, I guess that's about all I have to report right now. This Miles/Gurtu album is not bad I must say... and it's been such a while since Miles last released something it seems. Years even, not quite decades.

I've been really slack with my new project (yes it's a website! What a surprise!) but I will have to get into gear sooner or later. When I feel like it I suppose... I'm also trying to figure out the best method to turn HDTV recordings into real normal DVDs... I think there might be a slight quality loss since it's quite hard to fit a 2 hour movie onto a single later blank, but oh well. It's much more convenient than having 2 discs. I've got the process down to working perfectly on the computer.. it's a little slow but the results are good. However, as soon as I play it in a normal DVD player... the sound skips and the video looks like it's playing too slowly... argh! Back to the drawing board on that one. Anyone else got any ideas?

I wasn't going to post this much.. oops. Oh well. I figured I might as well mention a few more things. I finally got my Geforce 6600GT back from being replaced... it goes good I must say! Doom III and Half-Life 2 run perfectly at 1280x1024 "ultra" / maximum detail.. I just need a bit more ram to make the games a bit smoother when loading. Ah well. I was actually thinking about doing a full upgrade, but I think apart from RAM this system is actually still quite good. I clocked it up a bit to see it really go, and it's nice but a bit more noisy *sigh* - can't have everything I guess.

I'm also tempted by cheap little things from ebay... some things are on there for 99 cents with cheap postage and I feel like buying them just for kicks. Although then again I want to save up ... for rainy day (or something) of course.

Talking about saving up... my Grandmother gave me some more Rinker shares, which is fantastic because I really do like that company. They are performing extremely well, with a 3 fold increase in price over the past 2 or so years. Well done guys! Taken a bit of a dip lately but that's OK because it means my Grandmother is allowed to give me more shares, without upsetting the government or her pension etc.

Hmm this weekend should be good I think.. Rex will have finally finished her Uni degree (wah wah wee wah) so we can pat-tay! I think going to Tank will be in order, as well as enjoying the suhshine which we couldn't enjoy last weekend. Also have Michelle's Birthday coming up on Thursday night at Cockle Bay... that should also prove interesting.

So yes that is what is coming up. Ohhhhh and Spirited Away is on Wednesday night (TomorroW) so that is really good! Heh. I'm going to be so tired by the time Friday comes....
