Today I bought a used Sparkle 8800GTX which is rather fwoa. I haven't got anything terribly impressive to throw at it, but so far I can run all games at the max res of my monitor with 16x AA and all eye candy turned on... which is good enough for me.
The card seems to get pretty hot (glad it has a dedicated cooler taking up an extra slot with an exhaust vent) but I suppose they all do. 60'C too much for just idling? Apparently not.
That's about all the news from today except I've been playing a bit of Chu Chu Rocket! lately, which is quite fun. I also upgraded to the latest Ubuntu, which seemed to go rather smoothly (thankfully). As a precaution I did a Ghost of the drive beforehand, but it looks like I won't need to roll back.
On tonight's menu is spicy beans and mince with those soft tortilla things. Yum.
So, anyone want to buy a 6600GT going cheap?
