Cycling

Well yesterday I actually got the courage to ride my bike to work. It was actually quite a lot of fun, and took under 15 minutes. I was a bit tired once I got to work (I think I rode as fast as I could manage) but I soon got over that. Overall I think it's quite good and I will definitely do it again.

My trip was basically to duck through Darling Harbour and avoid all roads as much as possible, so I don't really need to go on the road very much, which I think is the safer option. Riding home seemed pretty quick too, although it was quite dark and I had to weave around people to ensure I didn't get in their way...

Some guy did the obligatory nod thing as I was riding through Darling Harbour, so I must be 'one of them' now... heh! Everyone at work decided that my helmet from 1992 is far too old to be used and needs to be replaced, but I guess it hasn't really been used a whole lot and has lived a sheltered life indoors for most of it's life.

Overall, my top speed was around 31km/h which isn't too bad I reckon, considering I was just concentrating on getting there and not breaking any records!

People commented that my bike looked pretty new and they were surprised to hear how old it is... it must be pretty close to 10 years now... I'm not sure exactly how old it is, but I know I got it during high school, and that was 10 years ago! Heh. Time flies.

I've actually done a small piece of maintenance on this site, which is odd considering I should be concentrating on my new site. I endaled the option in the profile editor to set the photo quality (between 0 and 100, 100 being the best quality). This affects the JPEG quality of the photos in the photo album. The photos are also dynamically resized so they pretty much always fit in the window without horizontal scroll bars. The only dilemma is that now most of the images are a bit small than before, but the quality is nice and smooth, and that's what counts the most. I guess this is one feature I should carry over to the new site.

Speaking of which, I've been having a small look at Django, which appears to do a lot of what my blu web framework does, plus a whole lot more. I'm not sure which way I will go, but I do like to build things myself as I find other frameworks pretty restrictive. We'll see.

That's about all except tonight I cooked a killer chicken/bacon/coriander/couscous/fresh pineapple/spice/peanuts/almonds meal, which was rather tasty. I'll definitely make something like that again.

Anyways, bed time should be right about now so I might just wander off and get some rest.
